The Adirondack Series was resanctioned beginning with the 2006-2007 season thanks to the cooperation of our founding partners:
NYSEF(New York Ski Education Foundation), National Sports Academy, ORDA(Olympic Regional Development Authority), Whiteface and Titus Mountains, and North Country Community College. We are now in our 8th year and proud to work with our current host resorts; Whiteface Mt., North Creek Ski Bowl/Gore, and ....
Please read your rulebook (available online at www.usasa.org), especially the disqualification and protest rules before you compete. Helmets are required at all times as are properly worn bibs for both training and competition. The following events are for both skiers and snowboarders.
SS - Slopestyle - Competitors are scored by a panel of judges on a course consisitng of jumps and rails. The best of two runs counts for their final score.
RJ - Railjam - A judged event based on open "jam" format. Age groups are 10 & under, 11 -13, 14 & over, and Open for both ski & snowboard, male & female.
BX/SX - Boardercross/SkierCross - Each athlete gets one timed run to establish seeding for the race followed by racing in heats of up to four. If there are more than four athletes in an age group the top two finshers advance to the next round and the bottom two drop out until the final race.
EMPIRE STATE GAMES SS & SX/BX - The 2014 Empire State Games is taking place at Whiteface Mt Feb 7-9, 2014. Go to www.empirestatewintergames.com and click on the "Rules & Regs" tab on either the Slopestyle or Skier/Boardercross pages for more info and registration information.
How do I Qualify for Nationals?
Winners of each age division(season-long) are automatically qualified for nationals. If you are not first but have accumulated enough Nationals points based on your best three finishes in the respective discipline compared to the rest of the country you may receive an invite as well. For more details go to the 2014 Nationals tab at www.usasa.org or please feel free to contact me.
All competitors must be current, paid members of the USASA.
Registration for Nationals will start with an e-mail invite to series age-class-winners after the final qualifying weekend of the season - March 8/9. Then it will move on to the National Rankings and continue until fields are filled. To check your chances at being invited, go to the Nationals tab for your sport - Ski or Snowboard - and click on "competition groups". The number of athletes invited (field size) will be listed for each age-class and discipline. You can then click on "Rankings", and choose the National Rankings option, choose age-class and discipline, and see where you are in the rankings. Often times, invites will go beyond the field size number due to athletes who decline to attend. If you are within the field size number on the rankings you will likely be getting an invite. If you are slightly over the field size number you may still be invited to attend.
First event registration cost this season is $300. Each additional event is $30. This is a $25/$5 increase ,respectively, over the price of the last 5 years. Your registration grants you entry into the event, a 7 out of 10 day Copper Mt lift ticket, gift bag, and, new this year, free photos form VAST Action Photography (package details will be forthcoming on the Nationals page).
Invites come to you separately and will be added on to your previous registrations, so don't wait! Accept your invites asap in the time allotted, which will be included in your invitation e-mail.
As always, if you have questions, please get in touch with me.
Specific site information will be posted prior to each event but in general single events are $20 for railjams and $25 for cross and slopestyle and discounted lift tickets are available. Online registration begins December 1st for all events. Just click on the "Register Online" tab on the regional event schedule page.
