The 2012 USASA Skier Nationals and the entire Nationals event wrapped up today with over 1,700 competitors joining us at Copper Mountain. The last two weeks out here couldn’t have been better considering the weather, attitudes, and competition. Our last day of Nationals consisted of skiers in Halfpipe, Slopestyle, and SkierCross.
In the Halfpipe was Group 3, consisting of 13 to 18 year old men and women. All of the little guys (ages 12 and under) were on Slopestyle. Kaylen Reiley, an 8 year old out of the Adirondack series received the “Cholula Hot Trick of the Day” award for a spontaneous wall ride, something that the judges can’t believe didn’t happen earlier in the week!
And last but not least, we had Open Class and 19-and-overs at SkierCross. For Open Class men, Trevor Ricoli out of South Lake Tahoe took the gold, followed by Brant Crossan and Matthew Brady. Their time trial times were within 1 second of each other! Giving the South Lake Tahoe series a sweep for Open Class SkierCross, Whitney Gardner took the gold, followed by Sarah Koehler and Hannah Watt-Sax for the females.
Per one of your slopestyle announcers, Dave Duncan, “This has been one of the best weeks ever. I love the family vibe, the spring conditions, and overall good times to finish up a great season. Can’t wait til next year!” Thanks to everyone for a great week!
