The first day of USASA Nationals competition went off without a hitch here at Copper Mountain with US Snowboarding Team athletes dominating the Nor-Am and Open class Snowboardcross races. Youth Olympic Games winner and US Snowboarding Development Team rider, Jake Vedder, won his first National Championship title, second place was earned by fellow US Snowboarding Team member Mick Dierdorff. Josh Miller nabbed third.

"I love USASA Nationals, I’ve been coming here since I was six or seven and this is actually the first time I’ve ever won here." Vedder said after winning gold and taking home Wend Wax's Fast Time of the Day, "I usually do not qualify that well and I ended up qualifying two seconds faster than everybody else. I thought today is my day, we are going to take it one heat at a time." USASA Nationals is the started point for nearly every US athlete on the pro circuit, with every 2014 US Olympic team member getting their start at USASA competitions. On the women's side, US rider Colleen Healey bested Australian rider Georgia Baff and fellow American Audrey McManiman.

Slopestyle hosted Junior and Youth men with Alex Atno from Lavallette, NJ taking gold in Youth men and Peter Croasdale from Lakeville, MN winning in Junior men.

Halfpipe hosted Ruggies and Kahunas with snowboarding legend Chris Pappas taking home the win in Kahunas and a $400 gift card from Columbia Sportswear for Best Trick and Henry Hawkins taking gold for Ruggie boys.

The alpine venues were running fast with groups 2 and 4 charging the courses with Mens Adaptive Class shredder Eric Snyder taking the win in Slalom and Hans Huber grabbing gold in Breaker Boys Giant Slalom.
