Hey everyone Paul Brichta here checking in,
I just got back from a 3 week competition adventure. My first stop was the World Championships in Spain. First, Taylor Gold and I competed in the big air in Barcelona. The event was held in Palau Sant Jordi in downtown Barcelona, and it was a really fun event with over 8,000 people showing up to watch finals. After that we left for La Molina, Spain to compete in halfpipe and slopestyle where we met up with Benji Farrow. The World Championships in Spain was a great event. There was hardly any snow there, but the 40-50 degree weather all but made up for it! Everyone killed it on and off the hill (playing lots of ping pong). It was definitely one of the most fun trips I’ve ever been on.
After arriving back in the US I had practice the next day for the Denver Big Air. The competition was held at night, under the lights, in downtown Denver. Thousands of people were at the event watching, and it was a great experience. I finished 14th missing finals by 2 spots, but I still had a lot of fun.
Then, I came home for a day to rest up before leaving for X Games to compete in the USASA Rail Jam. I made finals at the rail jam along with team riders Benji Farrow who placed 3rd, and Eric Beauchemin who won. After the rail jam I drove back to Frisco from Aspen and then to Winter Park to compete in the Burton Am halfpipe event the next day. I won the Burton am with my run which was cab 1080, frontside 900, air, crippler, air. I also won best trick for my cab 1080!
Next week, I’m leaving for the Dew Tour in Snow Basin, Utah. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their season, and I’ll be sure to keep you updated too.
