Paul Brichta: 3 Days in Steamboat

AspenFinalsHey everyone just wanted to fill you in on what I’ve been up to these last couple of weeks. My 3 week stretch of competitions started at the Burton Am Series event at Winter Park in Colorado. There I made finals in Slopestyle, which was an accomplishment because there were a lot of good riders, and in Halfpipe I finished 2nd and won Best Trick. I made $750 in prize money that weekend, I was stoked! My next comp was the Revolution Tour at Copper Mountain where I finished 5th in pipe after putting down what I thought was one of my better runs ever. After Copper I traveled to Aspen to compete in the Aspen/Snowmass Open.

The competition courses at Buttermilk, where they held the event, were AMAZING! They were the exact same features as the X-Games. In Slopestyle I was happy just to put a run down, because I got to hit the jumps only 3 times total. Then the Halfpipe comp went fairly well, I qualified 6th for finals, but then in finals was over anxious and couldn’t land a run. Overall the 3 week stretch went well because I could see myself improving at each following competition. Now I’m preparing for March a pretty busy competition month for me with the Boreal Rev Tour, and US Open coming up.

Sorry this update took so long to put together but this last week and a half we had some amazing powder at Steamboat. I’ll include a link to some of the jumping and shenanigans that took place with the SSWSC team. Some pretty amazing stuff went down, including some of my first double back flip attempts!
