Nobody will tell you more about how excited I was for this season than my Coaches and teammates. Training with the International Snowboard Training Center (ISTC) out of Copper Mountain, Colorado was the best preseason I had throughout my entire career and I was ready to prove it my last year as a US Junior rider.
It’s been a week and three days since my surgery. I have been on crutches and in bed for a while. Before the surgery they gave me a nerve block in my leg, but they gave me the shot in my hip. Then they gave me a spinal tap and gave something to make me loopy so I would be asleep because when I was little I was allergic to the anesthesia.
After many connecting flights, we finally ended up in Kelowna, BC. First we stopped at the safeway in Kelowna and I was quite surprised that there was not one difference compared to grocery stores in the states. Next, we hopped into our enormous rental van and headed up to the Big White ski resort where two Nor-Am boardercross events would take place. My team was supposed to be staying in a hostel at the resort but after my coach had decided that it was a total dump, we drove an hour back to Kelowna and got some rooms at the Days Inn. It was a bummer that we had to make a long drive every day to the mountain but it ended up working out alright.
After a 13-hour plane ride and a police escort into Gangwon, I arrived at the Sungwoo Hyundai Resort in South Korea. The hotel where the World Championships was being held was giant complete with Dance Dance Revolution Machines, a full arcade, a bowling ally, ping pong, pool, and pit pat (an Asian game similar to pool), oh ya…and a water slide and swimming area.
Merry Christmas!! So the past 2 weeks have been superrr busy. I had the grand prix and the dew tour in back to back weeks. It didn’t help that I had all my school finals during these weeks.
It was awesome to have everyone from around the world in Colorado riding the pipe. I didn’t make it to finals for the grand prix but was close and I was really happy with my run. Then the dew tour came up. Man was that a busy week. I was doing both slopestyle and halfpipe so doing both of those took all week.
I was in Switzerland and I had never been there before. Switzerland had the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. When I arrived I was very jet lagged because I stayed up the whole flight. I should of slept on the flight. Do to the time difference I was extremely tired. When we first got to the hotel I got right in bed and it was only 12 pm and I slept till 8 pm. I slept threw dinner but managed to get something to eat. While I was sleeping three people knocked on the door and that didn’t even wake me up.
