Mahaney and his long road ahead…

DSCN2341.JPGNobody will tell you more about how excited I was for this season than my Coaches and teammates.  Training with the International Snowboard Training Center (ISTC) out of Copper Mountain, Colorado was the best preseason I had throughout my entire career and I was ready to prove it my last year as a US Junior rider.

Brooke Shaw: ACL update

photo_302.jpgIt’s been a week and three days since my surgery.  I have been on crutches and in bed for a while.  Before the surgery they gave me a nerve block in my leg, but they gave me the shot in my hip.  Then they gave me a spinal tap and gave something to make me loopy so I would be asleep because when I was little I was allergic to the anesthesia.

Mick Dierdorff: First time in Canada

After many connecting flights, we finally ended up in Kelowna, BC. First we stopped at the safeway in Kelowna and I was quite surprised that there was not one difference compared to grocery stores in the states. My team was supposed to be staying in a hostel at the resort but after my coach had decided that it was a total dump, we drove an hour back to Kelowna and got some rooms at the Days Inn. It was a bummer that we had to make a long drive every day to the mountain but it ended up working out alright.

Korean World Championships

Grand prix meMerry Christmas!! So the past 2 weeks have been superrr busy. I had the grand prix and the dew tour in back to back weeks. It didn’t help that I had all my school finals during these weeks.

It was awesome to have everyone from around the world in Colorado riding the pipe. I didn’t make it to finals for the grand prix but was close and I was really happy with my run. Then the dew tour came up. Man was that a busy week. I was doing both slopestyle and halfpipe so doing both of those took all week.

Brooke Shaw: Switzerland Recap

brooke_in_car.jpgI was in Switzerland and I had never been there before. Switzerland had the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen.  When I arrived I was very jet lagged because I stayed up the whole flight.  I should of slept on the flight.  Do to the time difference I was extremely tired.  When we first got to the hotel I got right in bed and it was only 12 pm and I slept till 8 pm.  I slept threw dinner but managed to get something to eat.  While I was sleeping three people knocked on the door and that didn’t even wake me up.
