(SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA. October 25, 2012) The United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) has named Peter Miller Davis of Jericho, Vermont as the new Executive Director of the organization. Mr. Davis was named after a nationwide search took place over the summer. He will be based out of the USASA office in Northern Vermont, effective November 1. This change comes after the decision by Jason Toutolmin to resign from the Executor Director position and become the USASA’s full time Marketing and IT Director.
Commenting on the new Executive Director, Mike Mallon, President of the USASA Board of Directors stated, “Pete brings a passion for the outdoors and promoting positive skiing and snowboarding experiences for kids. These attributes combined with a wealth of industry and event knowledge coupled with his contagious enthusiasm made him the ideal candidate” “We are very thankful for Jason’s efforts as the Executive Director over the past 6 years. His new focus will allow us to better serve our members by moving our membership data in house and we are excited for his continued success with USASA.”
Mr. Davis has years of work experience in the winter and action sports industry. For the past five years he has been employed by the Stratton Mountain School as a teacher, coach and director of special events. In his role at SMS, he has spearheaded many of the school’s largest fundraisers and managed their many special events, both on and off the mountain.
Mr. Davis brings a wealth of experience from his work as director of promotions and public relations at Bauer-Nike Hockey, brand manager of Original Sin Snowboards and special event management on a national level. In his new role at the USASA, Davis will be working closely with the organization’s board of directors and thirty-three series directors. Additionally, he will focus on securing sponsorships, growing membership in the organization and enhancing the event experience for participants in USASA events, including the USASA National Championships at Copper Mountain, Colorado.
Mr. Davis, a former professional ski racer and alpine coach, is a noted event announcer who has emceed ESPN’s Summer X-Games, NCAA Championships of Alpine and Nordic Skiing, special events at the US OPEN Tennis Championships and the Burton US Open Snowboard Championships. An avid alpinist, snowboarder and skier, he is the father of US Nordic Ski Team member, Skyler Davis and recent UVM graduate, Melissa Davis. Mr. Davis and his wife Caryn make their home in Jericho Center, Vermont.
