Molly Wilson Interview

Molly Wilson is having a banger year. She took bronze in open women pipe yesterday and followed that with a first place finish in open slopestyle today. She is a definite up and comer and a member of the PacSun/USASA Team. She blew the judges away in slope today, cementing her status as one to watch. I sat down with her to see what’s up.

You have really blown up this year, making the PacSun/USASA team and getting on the podium at almost every event you’ve been at. What has this year been like for you?

It’s a nice change. It like something just clicked at the beginning of the year and I just found a new love for snowboarding. I went to Hood with the PacSun/USASA team over the summer and it was cool to be a part of a new team and doing photo shoots. I also got to do a shoot over X Games  with the team, and that was really cool.

Where is your favorite place to ride?

Snowmass. I really like the triple line, it’s a great place for progression and fanny hill kills it!

Tell me about today…

The morning went well, I did a tail grab on the first big side to a back three on the next big side to indy. The rails on the right side were a little hard with a big flat down and a down flat down. The weather was horrible and it was super icy with a ton of wind and sideway snow. My first run is what won it, I was feeling really strong on the rails.

Who are your inspirations?

My favorite snowboarder is Marie France-Roy and I definitely look up to the Aspen Valley Snowboard Club coaches.

What is your favorite pre-game meal?

Six-inch meatball sub from Subway.

Shred Crew?

Kyla, Peter, Catie, Arielle, Sharky, Morris, Dillon, and the AVSC crew.

If you were an animal, what would you be?

Elephant. I like elephants.

What are your goals for next year?

To get better. Back sevens for sure. That’s a summer project. I might go to South America to get some more practice.
