Over 20 Pacsun USASA athletes connected to take a whirlwind tour thru Woodward east training facility October 6th thru 9th. The team participated in two a day gymnastic and skate sessions, in addition to diving board training and ropes courses at the Pennsylvania camp. Coaches Spencer Tamblyn and Travis Mclain proved to the youngsters that they still had it, launching off the diving board and into foam pits. 1998 Olympic balance beam medalist Phoebe Mills took the time to coach the team in the finer points of gymnastics.
The team had a progressive weekend refining previous abilities, and learning many new skills, all thanks to Woodward's world-class training grounds and world class coaching.
Boardercross coach Nathan Parks comments "This is a very unique group of athletes, they were feeding off each other all weekend, they also got the older guys (USASA executive director Jason Toutolmin, and Team manager Paul Krahulec) fired up too. Its cool to see athletes that have set no limits for themselves."
The next time the Pacsun USASA team will train together is at Copper Mountain resort in November and December in anticipation of their first events of the season. Athletes were chosen for their top finishes in Giant Slalom, Boardercross, Half-pipe and Slopestyle at the USASA National Championships last April in North Tahoe.
