Molly Wilson Interview

Molly Wilson is having a banger year. She took bronze in open women pipe yesterday and followed that with a first place finish in open slopestyle today. She is a definite up and comer and a member of the PacSun/USASA Team. She blew the judges away in slope today, cementing her status as one to watch. I sat down with her to see what’s up.
You have really blown up this year, making the PacSun/USASA team and getting on the podium at almost every event you’ve been at. What has this year been like for you?

It’s a nice change. It like something just clicked at the beginning of the year and I just found a new love for snowboarding. I went to Hood with the PacSun/USASA team over the summer...

Junior World Championships: Update!

Friday March 6, 2009

DSC01389.jpgThe postponed SBX finals took place on Thursday morning under a totally clear sky.  After our “fog out” day, the blue skies and sunshine were a welcome sight.  The riders had not lost their eagerness to get out and race against the best SBX juniors in the world.  In women’s action, Jenna Feldman, Jackie Hernandez and Faye Gulini were all eliminated in their first heats despite strong riding in training. Final results had Faye leading the US women in 9th place with Jackie right behind her in the 12th spot.  Jenna rounded out the Finals field in 16th place.

PacSun/USASA Team Podiums at Mt. Hood Revolution Tour

PacSun Team rider Molly Wilson racked up two silver medals, in halfpipe and slopestyle, at the USSA Revolution Tour Snowboard Series at Mt. Hood, Oregon, Feb. 20-22.

In Saturday’s halfpipe event, Wilson threw back-to-back frontside and backside 540s and barely lost out to a competitor who threw a 720, according to her hometown coach, Travis McLain.

USASA at the Northstar Winter Dew Tour

EOS13657.jpgThe final stop of the AST Winter Dew Tour was held at Northstar-at-Tahoe this past weekend and I had the opportunity to be there all four days to manage our booth. With the help of some great volunteers, including Zippy, Nicole, Elan and my wife and kids, we were able to spread the word about what USASA is all about and give out lots of free stuff. PacSun USASA Team riders Kelly Marren and Trevor Jacob did a few autograph signings over the weekend andour bandanas were a big hit, especially on Sunday when the weather got bad. The weather couldn't have been better the first 3 days, practically spring conditions, but Sunday was rainy and WET.
