PacSun USASA riders had a strong showing at this weeks Revolution Tour hosted by Copper Mtn resort in Colorado. An international field competed for spots to Junior World Championships and bragging rights as the best amateur snowboarders in the USA. Field sizes were as big as any event could handle and PacSun USASA riders held many spots into the finals and walked away with 5 medals in Halfpipe and Slopestyle.
This is one of the things that makes being a part of USASA worth all the hard work. Katie is an inspiration to us all and I hope her story motivates others to make a difference in other peoples lives.
"Katie B. Wilson, at the age of 11, is already an accomplished snowboarder seeking a podium spot at the USA Snowboard Association National Championships at Copper Colorado, but it is for her actions off the hill that she is being recognized as the 2009 Spirit of the Games Award winner."
Pacsun USASA riders, Faye Gulini and Mikaela Casey, started the 2008-09 season representing the US in their first ever Half Pipe World Cup in Saas Fee Switzerland.
Faye, 16 of Salt Lake City, and Mikalea, 18 of Minnesota, are both members of the snowboard program at Ski & Snowboard Club Vail. Mikaela took 17th in the European Cup and 21st in the World cup. Faye took 11th in the European Cup, and followed that up with an unbelievable 9th in the World Cup. Gulini also saw success in the night time rail jam, winning the women's event and walking away with $300.
The USASA is hosting the 2nd Annual USASA Fall Summit in Las Vegas, NV November 8-9, 2008 at Circus Circus Hotel and Casino.
Events for the weekend include Technical Supervisor Certification Clinics (Level 1 and 2) to be held Saturday and Sunday, a software session for new Series Directors and Tabulators (including a demo of our new iPod Touch/iPhone judging system), and a dinner and USASA Board Meeting to be held Saturday Night.
