The final stop of the AST Winter Dew Tour was held at Northstar-at-Tahoe this past weekend and I had the opportunity to be there all four days to manage our booth. With the help of some great volunteers, including Zippy, Nicole, Elan and my wife and kids, we were able to spread the word about what USASA is all about and give out lots of free stuff. PacSun USASA Team riders Kelly Marren and Trevor Jacob did a few autograph signings over the weekend andour bandanas were a big hit, especially on Sunday when the weather got bad. The weather couldn't have been better the first 3 days, practically spring conditions, but Sunday was rainy and WET.
The CMS crew rocked NYC this past weekend for the first ever Red Bull Snowscrapers competition in East River Park. This Five Star TTR Event set against the backdrop of NYC’s amazing skyline drew 16 of the top riders from around the world with likes of Travis Rice, Torstein Horgmo and Terje Haakonsen. Up for grabs was a $100,000 cash prize, the largest purse ever for a new event of this size.
PacSun USASA Snowboard Team alumni Kim Krahulec kicked off her 2009 competition season with a 3rd place finish at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Boreal CA. She sat out most of January with a muscle strain, pulling out of the Rev Tour, Copper NorAM's and most notably Winter X. This is the 2nd year in a row that she has made the podium at the Grand Prix Boardercross.
USASA PacSun Team members Faye Gulini, Chloe Banning and Mick Dierdorff increased the team’s medal count to 8 on Saturday in the SBX on the final day of the USSA Revolution Tour event in Copper Colorado. The competition was intense with over 40 women and 100 men representing several countries vying for a spot in the finals. The Copper race crew worked tirelessly to build a course that would challenge a wide range of technical skills for the riders. A total of 6 PacSun team members were entered into the day’s event. Gulini, Banning and Dierdorff were joined by Chris Mahaney, Mack Joyce and Jackie Hernandez on the start list.
