Thank you for participating in the 2020-2021 USASA competition season. This year had its share of challenges, and we are grateful for your commitment and flexibility in working through them with us. Together we wore masks, we socially distanced, and we helped keep our communities safe. It was unfortunate that we were not able to host our USASA National Championships for the second year, but we now know that keeping our communities and their families safe was the right call. Looking forward, we are excited to make the 2022 National Championships one of the most amazing events ever!
To highlight this season we will be sending out certificates of accomplishment in early June for the top 20% of athletes in each age group. These certificates will represent the top athletes in the nation and we want to recognize their dedication and hard work. We will also be mailing a limited edition, special release USASA commemorative medal to award the top 3 athletes in the current end-of-year National Ranking.
These one-of-a-kind medals represent a year when unique challenges were presented and this is our way of saying thank you and acknowledging your athletic achievements!
As we look towards the future, we are confident that the USASA community can adapt, be flexible and continue our love of shred and competing. We will do everything we can next year to continue the stoke and fun that is USASA.
In honoring the USASA commitment to providing fair and equitable results and rankings we will reset all competitor results to begin from the same starting point for the 2021-2022 season with no results brought forward. In a “normal” year only those who participate in the National Championships bring a single result forward to begin the new year.
Last season we assigned a point value to the entire membership and then brought that one adjusted point value forward to this year. This was a good way to give everyone a leg up into the pandemic year, however, not everyone was able to participate and take advantage of this. Effectively we are currently hosting a two-year average in competitors' profiles representing an inequality in rankings. Our new adjustment will provide equitable rankings across all age groups while representing the USASA commitment to fairness. Everyone will begin the 2021-2022 season with a new hope and a new respect for what competing at USASA events is about. Membership opens on July 1st and we can’t wait to kick it all off next winter with you!
Have an amazing summer and thank you for being a valued USASA member. Please feel free to reach out to mike{at}usasa.org with any questions.
