Charlie Kleimnan, Alex Kiratsous and Zachary Elder will lead the Intellectually Disabled Snowboardcross Exhibition to be held April 3rd as part of the 2019 USASA Nationals Championships.

The United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association will be hosting a Snowboardcross exhibition event for athletes with intellectual disabilities April 3rd at Copper Mountain, Colorado. In an effort to share unified sports with the whole USASA family, this unique event will take place during USASA’s 30th Annual National Championships and will showcase five advanced level athletes who have intellectual disabilities. USASA’s Catskill Mountain Series members Charlie Kleimnan, Zachary Elder, and Alex Kiratsous along with USASA’s Rocky Mountain Series member Zeke Moran.

Zachary Elder and Charlie Kleinman are both bringing Special Olympics and X Games Unified racing experience with them to Copper Mountain with Zachary earning both a silver and a bronze X Games medal. Seventeen year old Alex Kiratsous, Cody Fields and Colorado local, Zeke Moran will round out what is bound to be an exciting exhibition.

Zachary Elder, a pioneer in the ID snowboarding community, leads the charge at the Catskill Mountain Series snowboardcross.

USASA is working alongside the Special Olympics to, hopefully one day soon, provide an additional event within the Special Olympics scope of expertise. Utilizing experts in the field, USASA will provide adjusted formats where needed to ensure a fun and safe event for all.

“We look forward to supporting all athletes and this unique opportunity alongside Special Olympics and will continue to pursue the highest standards and unification for all USASA events." Said Michael Mallon, executive director at USASA.

“Let’s continue to be trailblazers and shred into the future.”  -Zachary Elder
