FUTURES TOUR - PARK CITY

Created: 17 February 2022

The Park City, UT stop of the 2022 Futures Tour was plagued with cold temps but that didn't stop USASA freeskiers and snowboarders from throwing down some of the most heated runs of the year. In Park City Mountain Resort's legendary Three Kings Park, Futures Tour stop number one silver medalist Bode Raffa took top honors. Raffa who beat out 90 other freeskiers won by nearly 6 points over fellow Southern Vermont Series skier Connor Garber and local Big Mountain West skier Colby Johnson.

Eleanor Andrews, Isabel Parada, and Piper Arnold went one, two three in women’s freeski slopestyle, topping a field of 20 women. On the snowboard side, Upper Midwest Snow Series rider Rebbeca Fly continued her winning streak taking home her second Futures Tour gold in women’s snowboard slopestyle, besting Central Oregon Series' Aida Brown and local Big Mountain West rider Chelsee Kelley.

Snowboard men took to the course on the final day of competition with Rocky Mountain Series' Caleb Dhawornvej besting LJ Henriquez from the Mid-Atlantic Series and local Big Mountain West rider Gavin Berghorn. The Southern Vermont Series dominated the snowboard halfpipe men's competition with Sumner Orr putting down two progressive runs to finish ahead of fellow SVS rider and Okemeo local Tommy Okesson. Rocky Mountain Series Luke Leal nabbed third. On the women's side, 2017 USASA National Halfpipe Champion, Kinsley White from The Unbound Series beat out Amelie Haskell from the North Tahoe Series, and Big Mountain West rider Chelsee Kelley snagged her second bronze of the weekend.

On the freeski side, Pipe Arnold who earned bronze in women's slopestyle took home the win in halfpipe, beating our Idaho Mountain Freeride series rider Nikita Rubocki and Big Mountain West rider Kaitlyn Reital. Men wowed the crowd with large airs impressive spins, most notably from Big Mountain West skier Cael McCarthy who took the win over Central Oregon Series' Kellen Larson and Southern Vermont Series skier Liam Brogden.

The Futures Tour heads east this week for the first Snowboard and Ski Cross event of the tour at Gore Mountain, NY February 11th.
