Judge Certifications

Any person may participate in a judging clinic and anyone over the age of 18 may become a certified judge.  USASA certifies three levels of judges.  Level A judges are the most educated and have achieved the highest level of certification.  These judges may judge the USASA National Championships and may be Head Judges at a USASA Regional Series.  Level B judges have some experience and may judge at the regional level.  Level C judges are entry level and may judge local events.  Judges must adhere to the following re-certification requirements to retain their certification:

  • National A level judges must re-certify every three years.
  • National B level judges must re-certify every two years.
  • National C level judges must re-certify every year.

The link below contains the most up-to-date and accurate certification information.  The judge certifications listed in the MemberPro officials search are old and not completely accurate so please refer to the link here for current information.  Updates to the MemberPro judge certifications are forthcoming.  If you have any questions or concerns about the certifications listed below contact phoebe mills at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. International Judges Commission

The USASA works closely with the International Judges Commission (IJC). Information about the IJC can be found at http://www.ijc.info/. Most of the judge education materials used around the word are based on those created by the IJC. The IJC certifies Pro Level judges as well as National judges. USASA only certifies National judges.

Judge Levels

The goal of the IJC and USASA is to send the best possible judges to snowboard competitions. The certification is therefore based on the demand of judges. After the competition schedules are published, the IJC and USASA Head Judges determine how many judges are needed for the upcoming season. The best possible judges are then selected out of the pool of those who participated in the certification/re-certification process.

The certification process also includes regional aspects to meet the needs of the organizers. Therefore the competition between judges of a region is of great importance. The Worldwide and National Clinics are good platforms for you to present your knowledge and capabilities.
