Click here to download 2007 Nationals Results!
4/17/2007 at 9:45pm The USASA gave out $15,000 in scholarships this year to USASA athletes across the country.
4/7/2007 at 8:00pm I only had a chance to shoot photos 1 day and only at the pipe but I got some pretty good shots while I was there. Vast took thousands of photos throughout the week so I knew we were covered as far as event images. But what I posted tonight is a pretty good indication of just how amazing the level of riding was at Nationals though!
4/6/2007 at 6:30pm Hard to believe, but the 2007 National Championships are just about over. Awards are going on outside right now and I just finished uploading ALL results including overalls, etc. It has been a great year and I can't wait to do it all over again!
Registration/Check in We will be opening up Check-in/registration on Saturday at 10am this year, instead of 1pm, so you can check-in Saturday 10-5 or Sunday 9-4. Because everyone will already be paid in full online, check-in should be a breeze this year. Just Sign the waiver (or print it online, sign it and bring it with you!) and pick up your credentials and bib. Easy. Please TRY to check-in by 12 noon, the day before your first competition! Because of the set practice schedule for Sunday's Halfpipe and Slopestyle, anyone in Group 2 or 4 will have the ability to check-in between 8:30 and 9:00 AM on Sunday morning, in order to get on the hill in time for their practice session. They are the first scheduled practice times on those venues and if they can't check in on Saturday they would miss their practice on Sunday. So we will open registration early for those Halfpipe or Slopestyle competitors is those 2 groups only. Registration will open at 9 AM for the rest of the Competition Groups.
Opening Ceremonies/Parade The parade will be Sunday afternoon at 5pm. Northstar would like to present a Spirit Award to the coolest, best dressed or most spirited Series. Bring costumes, banners, wigs, anything fun, but nothing messy or dangerous! Everyone needs to meet at the Skier Dropoff area at 4:45pm at the front of the Village to get organized for the Parade. Each Series will be walking in from this area to the ice rink plaza area.(where the shuttle buses drop people off) A group Riders Meeting will take place on the stage immediately following the Parade and Opening Ceremonies. The Technical Supervisors will speak about competition formats, judging criteria, etc. Nightly Coaches Meetings Coaches/Riders meetings will be held every night (Monday through Thursday) at 5pm to discuss the following days events, etc. Be there if you have ANY questions about the competition, rules, judging, etc.
Start Lists/Results Nationals Registration closes at Midnight on March 28th, NO EXCEPTIONS! If you are not confirmed and Paid In Full by midnight the 28th, you will not be on the startlist for Nationals! Start lists will be created and posted on the website March 29th as PDF files! They will be final and you can print them before you get on the plane to come to Nationals. We will not be making hundreds of copies of startlists to hand out to parents and riders this year. We waste thousands of pieces or paper printing all the start lists just so a person can take 1 set, find their name and then throw it in the garbage. Please print your own online before you leave home, or bring a laptop and printer with you. They will be online forever so you can always make a new copy. Certified Coaches and Technical Onhill Supervisors will be the only ones that will get copies each day. The lists will be posted at the base area in the registration office window, and also posted at each Venue, top and bottom of each course. Same goes for Results printouts. We will post a copy in the window each night after awards. They will be available online immediately following Awards each night and stay on the website forever, so you can print 100 copies when you get home, but we will not be putting stacks of results out to pickup each night. There is internet access at the resort and in the town of Truckee, etc. probably even in your hotel lobbies, so you can print results from their at any time. We need to cut down on waste and save the planet!
Practice Time Sunday is the Practice Day for all venues. The Alpine schedule is now posted as well. The BoarderCross course will be open all day, with no schedule for age groups, etc. If this changes I will post it here. After Sunday, the only practice on courses will be the small practice times before heats on your competition day. Judging Information Meeting Sunday April 1st, immediately following the riders meeting. This meeting is designed to provide information to competitors, coaches and parents about the science of judging runs, developing a score and establishing a ranking. Our goal is to provide everyone with a clear understanding of what the judges actually do in the judges booth. Awards Ceremonies Awards will be every evening after all Venues are completed. Ideally we will try to schedule them for 5:30pm each night, depending on how smoothly events go each day. They will be held on the stage around the Ice Rink, same as last year. Podium Photos We will have Laine Photo this year onsite for Podium photos. The plan is to speed up Awards and also provide excellent photos for all the winners. The top 3 will be called up to the stage and awarded medals as usual, and people can snap photos quickly there. Then the medalists will exit the stage and go around the back to another Podium setup with a backdrop and a photographer with lights, etc. who will shoot professional images for purchase later. This way everyone will be able to get a photo without a board in front of their face, or bad lighting, some other photographers head in the picture, etc. This should be pretty slick! Action Photos I am stoked to announce that VastAction Photography will be back again this year shooting action shots every day and will have images for sale onsite and Online. More information coming soon. www.vastaction.com Coaches Credentials Only Certified USASA coaches will be eligible for Coaches Credentials, which include comp tickets for the week and access to all courses. If you do not have credentials you will not be allowed on course. If you are not already a certified USASA (or USSA) coach with Current Membership (Membership card or internet printout to prove it) you will not be eligible, no exceptions! Coaches Clinic March 29-30, at Northstar-at_Tahoe You are welcome to attend the 2 day coaching clinic that has been scheduled for March 29-30 at Northstar to get certified! Volunteers Please download the Volunteer Information PDF file for information on Volunteering at Nationals Annual USASA Board Meeting Wednesday night at 7:30pm. If you have anything to say or just want to hear what is going on with the USASA, this is the place to be. It is the one night all year that all the Series Directors sit in a room together and talk USASA stuff. Big stuff gets voted on, like who the Executive Board Members will be and National Rankings things. Be careful though, I went to a Board meeting at the 1996 Nationals to voice some concerns I had at the time and look what happened to me... :) Open Class Prize Money The purse breakdown for Open Class events is as follows, and there must be at least 6 riders in the competition in order for there to be prize money paid. We cannot justify paying more that 50% of the field! 1st: $500 2nd: $300 3rd: $200
