Southwest Freeride Series

The USASA (United States of America Snowboard/Skier Association) is a grassroots organization that promotes safe, fair and fun events for snowboarders and skiers while fostering a competitive spirit.  Every year riders compete in slalom, giant slalom, slopestyle, boarder/skier cross and halfpipe events at the regional level.  Skiers can be involved in the slopestyle, skiercross and halfpipe events.  Riders accumulate points to qualify for Nationals.  The goal is to promote fun lifelong activities for snowboarders and skier of all ages.

The Southwest Freeride Series (formerly New Mexico Series) along with Angel Fire Resort was host to the 2004 Nationals with 1118 competitors ranging in age from 6 to 60.  The Nationals this next spring will be held at Copper Mountain, CO.  The Southwest Freeride Series has a schedule for the 2009/2010 season set (listed below) for Slalom/giant slalom, slopestyle and boarder/skier cross with the possibility of adding events still pending.  We would like to expand our series participation to Arizona and Southwest Colorado riders who have not recently been represented.

We hope for you to join our series to make it even stronger.  We had 27 riders attend Nationals last year with 15 top ten finishes and would like to continue and expand on that tradition.  If you would like to learn more, check out USASA.org or email our Series Director, Dave Smith at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Don’t forget, we are always looking for coaches, judges and volunteers for any and all events!

The former New Mexico Series and Angel Fire Resort were proud host for the 2004 USASA Nationals Championship event. We hosted 1,118 competitors from age 6 to 60.

Registration Information

If you haven’t already joined USASA, please do so prior to the first competition. This will prevent you from being slowed down at event day registration (and potentially help keep you from losing valuable practice time). Online registration is now available at www.usasa.org.

Competitor Information

HELMETS & USASA Membership are REQUIRED for all events, no exceptions.

Please register online and come to registration the day of event with your USASA membership card and appropriate payment.

How do I Qualify for the Nationals?

To qualify for the USASA 2010 National Championships you must either:

Win the overall points championship in your age division for a single discipline. This means you can qualify for National Championship in a single discipline such as SlopeStyle, Giant Salom, Slalom, or BoarderCross®.

or

Be pre-qualified from last year (took 1st place at last years Nationals)

All other National Championship spots will be awarded via the National Ranking System.

Quick FAQ:

1. Website won't let me join and says: "A Member with the same First and Last Name and Birth Date already exists."?
Answer: Your information is still in the system from last year. Login as your user name and passwd.
2. I forgot my user name and passwd?
Answer: Click on "Forgot your Login ID or Password? Click Here"
It will ask for your email address you registered with last year.

Wanted

As always, the quality of the USASA events depends on the time, effort and energy of many committed volunteers, as judges, course marshals and registration staff. Please let us know if you, your friends and/or family have interest in helping to support this great series through volunteer efforts.
