We welcome both freeskiers and snowboarders and are a close-knit region with a supportive atmosphere. We pride ourselves on providing fun, fair competition for our winter athletes. Last season we had over seventy competitors participate in our regular season, and an awesome team represented us at Nationals! Here's to making 2010 even bigger!

BX/SX will be on Logger's Way. Slalom will be on Little Dipper. Slopestyle will take place in the park at the bottom of The Face. For directions and accommodations, please see www.wispresort.com. There is also a Comfort Inn in McHenry, MD near Wisp, and their phone number is 301-387-4200.

Membership Information Every rider practicing or competing in any USASA sanctioned event must attain USASA membership prior to participating. Memberships can be purchased online by clicking the "Join" tab above or by registering at an event. For all memberships, please register under the Appalachian Series! There are three types of memberships available which are as follows:

  • Trial membership: FREE- This membership is intended only for the new rider/freeskier who has never entered a USASA event in his/her life to have a chance to experience the sport prior to joining with one of the memberships below. This membership is valid for one day only. The new competitor may upgrade to a full membership within two weeks and any points earned will be counted towards National rankings.
  • One day membership: $25- This membership is intended for riders/freeskiers who only want to compete for one day but have no intention of becoming a full member of USASA or qualifying for the National Championships. It is valid for one day at any one USASA sanctioned event. No USASA points will be awarded or transferrable at a later date.
  • Full membership: $75- This membership is valid for one full membership season at any USASA sanctioned event. Points will be earned toward Regional and National rankings and the athlete can qualify for the National Championships. Full membership competitors will receive an official membership packet by mail including a membership card, stickers, current rulebook and other benefits.


    Competitor Information
    • All competitors are responsible for understanding USASA rules. Please see www.usasa.org.
    • No refunds for competitor cancellations or no shows.
    • Good sportsmanship is expected at all times.



    TTR Our Halfpipe and Slopestyle events are also 1 Star TTR Sanctioned events. The TTR is a ranking organization that sanctions events like the Burton Global Open Series, US Snowboard Grand Prix and others. USASA Nationals is also TTR Sanctioned for the Open Class. 1 Star TTR Sanctioned events allow athletes to strive for bigger events in the future and are a way to gain entry to point specific events. How do I Qualify for Nationals? National Championships... April 4-9, 2010... Copper, Colorado... Take 1st place at 2009 Nationals and compete in at least half of this season's events OR... Be the top scorer per gender/division in your combined best three scored events per discipline OR... In the event the top scorer is unable to attend, the second place scorer will qualify AND THEN... The remaining National Championship spots will be awarded based on the National Ranking System . National Ranking scores will consist of the athlete’s best 2 results from their home series plus the higher score from one of the following: a. The previous year’s National Championships; OR b. The athlete’s first result from an outside series; OR c. A 3rd result from their home series.
