Series Background

The Huck Finn Series covers Mid-Michigans lower peninsula. Serving the states Snowboarders as well as the Freestyle Ski scene.

The HUCK FINN Story: One snowflake at a time!

As the Huck Finn Series Director I was originally a USASA competitor in the late 80's as snowboarding was taking root across the U.S. Dean and Rocky, series directors at that time gave up the GLSS (Great Lakes Snowboard Series) and John Guba took it over, still a competitor, I made snowboarding my prime passion during the winter months. Taking this passion to a new level I was a sponsored rider on the National Airwalk team and traveled to competitons all over the U.S., with video footage in "Surf the Earth" and a spot on MTV's "Winter House" Shortly after that I was hired as the Mid West sales rep for Joyride, Switch , Sessions & Dragon. My love for the sport continued to grow. Don Grimmer had taken over the series and abandon the name GLSS. He changed the series name to Middle Earth. In a conversation about quitting the USASA series I convinced Don to stay on and explained that many of the kids counted on the series and he continued, the next season I approached him to take it over, The following year, 2003, I started Huck Finn with friend doOG (Doug Becker) and revived the GLSS name. In 2004 Don handed the MESS series to Mo Shorr. Huck Finn did all the marketing and promotion of both series up to the 2008 season. Every new season brings new developments, I like to create a safe family environment for our competitors, and with a great organization like the USASA we will continue to grow and be a stepping stone for many Great riders that can say that "I AM Huck Finn".

Thanks for being a part of our family.
