USASA Rulebook Revisions for 2009-2010

1. Fundamental Rules

Rules were changed to make membership a requirement

2. Rules 100.04: New Series Application

Rules were changed to reflect the application process for new USASA Regional Series

3. Rule 100.05: Sanction Agreement submission

Changed rule to reflect deadlines for Sanction agreement instead of “prior to first event of the season” as stated previously.

4. Rules 102.02: Age Categories

Split skier age categories into smaller age groupings to better reflect actual physical sizes and abilities between ages. Changed to 9 and under, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18 and 19+

5. Rule 102.04: Age Categories and Open Class Events

Added a provision for age class qualifiers to Nationals to upgrade to Open Class. Anyone who does this must remain in Open Class the following season.

6. Rule 102.06: Adaptive rule clarification

Noah worked with Adaptive officials to change rules to better reflect international adaptive standards for inclusion in the Paralympics. Also included a requirement that adaptive riders compete in their regional series in order to qualify for Nationals.

7. 103.01 Regional Series Events

Added: Regional Series may hold a maximum of two events in a single day.

8. 103.06 National Ranking

Added: G. Regional Series may hold a maximum of four events per discipline for purposes of awarding points toward the National Ranking system. Regional Series must state which events will award points prior to the first event. Regional Series may hold more than four events in a discipline, but no more than four events may award points toward the National Ranking system.

9. Rule 105: National Overall Titles

Removed Nationals Overall Freestyle, Overall Alpine and Overall Combined categories.

10. Rules 200.01 and 207.01: TS’s competing

Rules prohibiting TS’s from competing in events they supervise. Series Directors will be allowed to compete at Nationals without regional or ranking qualification. Removed phrase in Rule 207 requires the TS to “prepare and submit a report on the event to the Technical Commission within seven days” of the event.

11. Rule 203: Medical Service

Added a sentence requiring “Evacuation and Crisis Plan” for all events.

12. Rules 262.01 and 618: Skiercross rules

In rule 262.01, clarified that at least one foot must still be attached to a ski for correct gate passage. In rule 618, clarified finish rules for SkierCross and created rule about equipment left on course as an obstruction.

13. Rule 506

Got rid of duplicate rule and eliminated the chance for a re-run if you fall after leaving the start area but before the first hit
